Construction company Owen-Ames-Kimball is organizing a collection drive at its office in Gateway for supplies that can help those in areas who were affected by Hurricane Michael.

Their office is located at 11941 Fairway Lakes Drive.

“Southwest Floridians are all too aware of the potential threats that Mother Nature can send our way, and we all have, or know someone who has, been affected by natural disasters,” said O-A-K President Dave Dale. “We have seen firsthand how impactful a community’s support can be during a time of recovery, and now it’s our turn to make a difference for our fellow Floridians rebuilding after Hurricane Michael.”

The company is asking for items such as: generators, chainsaws, gas cans, shovels, flashlights, plywood, batteries, rope, tarps, work gloves, trash bags, tools, 5-gallon buckets, extension cords, duct tape, portable chargers, non-perishable food items, blankets, pillows, towels, personal hygiene items, baby food and formula, dog and cat food, and water.

Items can be donated and dropped off between today and Friday, October 19, from 8am until 5pm. The company is conducting a similar collection drive at its Naples office, which is located at 5117 Castello Drive, Unit 2, should that happen to be a more convenient location.

Hurricane Michael made landfall on October 10 as a Category 4 storm and caused serious destruction to Florida’s panhandle region. So far at least 19 deaths have been blamed on Michael according to multiple reports.

If you have any of the above listed items – or anything else you think can assist those in need – you are encouraged to drop them off at one of O-A-K’s offices by Friday.
