Although the first Boston Red Sox players aren’t expected until February 18, the equipment truck carrying the Major League Baseball team’s spring training equipment will arrive much sooner.

Today was “Truck Day” up in Beantown, the day when the 18-wheeler assigned to bring all the gear from Fenway Park to jetBlue Park in Gateway is packed up with baseballs, bats, helmets, bubble gum, you name it.

The truck pulled in to Fenway at 6:30am and will be headed toward Fort Myers by the end of the day.

According to boston.com, about 100 people showed up to wish the driver a safe trip and to bring the Red Sox some good luck for the upcoming season.

Boston won the American League East division last year with a record of 93-69, qualifying them for the play-offs. Unfortunately, the Red Sox lost in the first round to the Houston Astros, who went on to win the World Series.

The first spring season game will be February 23 at 1:05pm, as Boston will host the Minnesota Twins at jetBlue Park.
