Those of you in the “I’ll believe it when I see it” crowd can now believe it.
True to their word, the Florida Department of Transportation has installed a 4-way traffic signal at the intersection of SR-82 and Griffin Drive.
VERY IMPORTANT: The lights are NOT FUNCTIONAL YET. At least not as of 4:00pm on December 12.
But they have been installed.
Many people have complained over the years that the Griffin & 82 intersection is highly dangerous, especially during rush hour.
And “Many people” are exactly right. That intersection can be scary – especially when trying to turn left on to 82.
The Gateway Sun will reach out to FDOT tomorrow morning to see if they know when the lights will become active.
(EDITOR’S NOTE — Sun reader Jon Masters wrote the following on our FB page: I stopped and asked the nice gentlemen when the Christmas lights I mean traffic signal might be lit – he said less than a week just waiting for FPL to connect Meter can, install meter and they can program the lights)
