With over 105,000 kids participating in the Florida Youth Soccer Association winning a state championship at any age level isn’t an easy thing to do.

But the GPS Florida West U13 boys program did just that, winning the Florida State Cup last month.

They now move on to the regional finals this week in Greensboro, NC.

The U13 squad trains at jetBlue Park in Gateway.

GPS Florida West will begin by facing other state cup winners from the same age group from Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana in the Region 3, Group A pool.

They’ll take on the Arkansas Comets on June 23, followed by the Baton Rouge Soccer Club on June 24 and then the TSC Hurricane (Oklahoma) on June 25.

Other clubs from the Region 3 tournament are from Georgia, North Carolina, Texas, Alabama and Mississippi. South Carolina has four teams in the regional tournament.

Assuming GPS Florida West comes in either first or second place in the Pool A round-robin, they would advance to the quarterfinals of the Region 3 tournament. From there, it’s win or you go home through to the finals on June 29.

The ultimate winner of Region 3 will advance to US Youth Soccer National Championship tournament in Frisco, Texas from July 25-29.

We wish the Global Premier Soccer – Florida West U13 boys the best of luck this week in Greensboro!
