The vast majority of Gateway parents would like a public high school to be built at the Lee County School District’s site on Griffin Drive, according to competing petitions on the matter.

So far 824 people have signed a “for” petition at the time of publishing, while only 23 people had signed a petition “against”. Both petitions are being hosted on the same platform.

A group of Gateway parents are making preparations to greet the LCSD’s Construction Advisory Committee this Wednesday at 3:00pm when the committee is expected to make it’s formal site inspection of the Griffin Drive location. The group would like to present the committee with a petition that contains 1,000 signatures.

The school will be expected to draw students from the Treeline and southern parts of Lehigh Acres as well. So even if you live outside Gateway and feel you would benefit from having the school, you are welcome to sign the petition.
