Good news for those people who are interested in running for Seat on the Board of Supervisors of the Gateway Services Community Development District.

The Gateway Sun has learned that Supervisor Gary Neubauer will likely not seek re-election in November. This comes just 4 weeks ahead of the June 24 deadline for individuals to file the necessary paperwork announcing their candidacy.

Neubauer was elected to Seat #2 in 2008, defeating four opponents. In 2012, he ran unopposed.

It would seem that eight years as a Supervisor is enough for Neubauer, who lives in Pelican Preserve and is a Realtor with Coldwell Banker.

With Neubauer out of the way, it could make Seat #2 the most hotly contested in the November elections. Generally, people will try to avoid running against an incumbent if possible.

The other two Seats up for election in 2016 are Seat #1, belonging to Vice Chairman Margaret Fineberg and Seat #3 belonging to Supervisor Pamela Gill.

Both Fineberg and Gill are expected to run, although neither has submitted their paperwork as yet.
