The new Subway restaurant located at 12331 Towne Lake Drive – Unit 10 opened earlier this week, and the establishment had a line out the door during lunch time.

Naturally, I felt it was the Gateway Sun‘s duty to investigate the new restaurant, and I thoroughly enjoyed my foot-long Subway Club with lettuce, onions and ranch dressing.

The restaurant is being operated by Wleid Swalleh of Gateway, and Mohammed Zahran of Fort Myers.

I asked why they chose to put a Subway restaurant in Gateway, and Zahran replied, “We chose Gateway for Subway since the area seems to be growing. It’s a big community and we realized there is not enough restaurants in the area. We wanted something healthy and something everyone would love!”

Based in Milford, Connecticut, the franchise chain has over 40,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries.

Staff at the Gateway location told me they plan to begin offering breakfast, and possibly offering delivery in the future.

Delivery, eh?

I think speak for all of us in Gateway when I say we wish them all the best in their new venture.
