Congratulations are in order to the Boston Red Sox who won their 8th World Series in franchise history, and 4th since 2004.

Boston won the World Series in 1912, 1915, 1916 and 1918. But after the team sold star player Babe Ruth to the rival New York Yankees at the end of 1919, many Red Sox fans believe that brought on “The Curse of the Bambino” which would prevent the team from winning the Major League Baseball championship trophy ever again.

The Red Sox finally broke the curse 86 years later, winning the 2004 World Series against the powerhouse St. Louis Cardinals. The Sox went on to win again in 2007 (against the Colorado Rockies), 2013 (against St. Louis again), and now in 2018 (against the Los Angeles Dodgers).

It is the team’s 2nd win since moving their spring training home to jetBlue Park in Gateway.

Boston won the American League East pennant with a 108-54 record in the regular season, and kept up their winning ways all the way until the end.

Once again we congratulate the Boston Red Sox on their accomplishments this season.
