At long last, the new Italian food restaurant that was first announced back in August 2015 is ready to open.

The Saucy Meatball, located at the northeast corner of Commerce Lakes Drive and Gateway Boulevard, will open its doors on Monday, November 20. (For the benefit of your GPS, the full address is 12401 Commerce Lakes Drive, Fort Myers, FL, 33913.)

“It’s basically two restaurants,” owner Sal Basile told the News-Press.

“The front is pizza slices and calzones, very casual, easy for grabbing takeout or a quick lunch. And then you walk to the back and it’s a quaint little 70-seat dining room with a beautiful outdoor patio that’s just going to be stunning,” said Basile.

Basile is  the owner of Two Meatballs in the Kitchen located in Fort Myers. And while The Saucy Meatball will share Two Meatballs’ zest for Italian food, Basile also told the News-Press that that the chef he hired has worked in a French bistro, so there should be some interesting menu options for their customers.

The new restaurant plans to have 15 signature dishes, as well as 10 specialty dishes which are changed out weekly.

“That’s the beauty of a small place like this. We can have fun with it,” said Basile.

The Saucy Meatball says they are hiring for a variety of positions, and interested applicants should apply in person between the hours of 10am and 2pm, or between 5pm and 7pm.
