Not sure how we missed this one.

But, wow, what a great job by Gateway Trinity Lutheran Church.

According to an article in Florida Weekly, GTLC raised $45,500 at their sixth annual charity golf tournament, which was held at the Gateway Golf & Country Club on March 18.

The proceeds will be split evenly between Golisano Children’s Hopsital of Southwest Florida and the Community Cooperative.

“The community response has once again been overwhelming this year as it has the last five years. Our two deserving charities provide so much help and support to those who are less fortunate, and our success comes from the generous community of families and businesses that have donated more than $176,000 during the last six years,” tournament director Russ Reynolds told Florida Weekly.

Not that it matters, but $176,000 over all six years means the first five years raised an average of $26,000 per year.

At $45,500 … this year’s result just highlights the great job GTLC has done in growing the event.

So again, wow. Fantastic stuff.

GTLC says they’re going to try to raise $200,000 with their golf tournament over the next five years for those two worthy causes. They’re off to a great start to achieve that new goal.

The church deserves way more than a golf clap for their efforts.
