A section of Gateway Boulevard will be closed in the southbound direction between Commerce Lakes Drive and Daniels Parkway on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at 5pm until 5am the following morning.

The closure is part of the Road Turnover Project.

Traffic needing to get to Daniels Parkway will be rerouted west on to Commerce Lakes Drive and then south on to Westlinks Drive. An illustration has been provided above.

According to the Gateway Services Community Development District, if road work crews are unable to perform their tasks due to poor weather then they may have to reschedule this closure. For now though the plan is to close the road next Tuesday at 5pm.

When all of the road work is completed in Gateway, the GSCDD and real estate developer WCI plan to transfer ownership of the community’s main roads to Lee County.

Lee County officials agree that Gateway Boulevard, Griffin Drive and Commerce Lakes Drive West are important enough to be included in their traffic network.

Meanwhile, the GSCDD believes it will save Gateway residents $19 million over 30 years to hand the roads over to the county.
