It’s a case of so far, so good for the Royal Palm trees that were relocated a few weeks ago. We asked Al O’Donnell of O’Donnell Landscapes if any of the trees were in jeopardy of dying as a result of the process, and O’Donnell told us this morning that “They all look good.”

The Gateway Pack and Ship located at 12221 Towne Lake Drive is now open for business. Vince Sardo Jr. told the Sun that the new business will be “providing copy service, color copy, mail service, mail boxes, shredding, packing and shipping services, via UPS and USPS, FedEx, and DHL. We will carry a complete line of packing supplies for those that would like to pack their own items for shipment, greeting cards, stationary supplies and more.”

Boulevard Tavern announced the date for their annual End Of Summer Bash, which will take place on September 12, 2015. On their Facebook page, the popular bar and deli said: This year we’ll be raffling off a Budweiser beach comber!! Come in before the 12th and order a pitcher of Budweiser to be entered!

When he’s not too busy lording over Gateway Greens, Ed Tinkle attends the Gateway Services Community Development District meetings and often has useful information to pass along. At the last meeting on August 6, 2015 Tinkle pointed out that new houses in Gateway are only paying $1,797 to connect to GSCDD water and sewer, but Tinkle estimated that the value of those connections was actually $7,000. Something for the district to look in to.

The GSCDD Board of Supervisors is growing increasingly concerned with the costs of replacing the floodlights at the Sherman Soccer Complex. The price tag is now estimated at $479,000 which would be spread over approximately 5 years. The reactions from the Supervisors was a mix of surprise and unease at the cost.

The new Subway restaurant is reportedly showing strong sales since its opening. Staff at the store told us that feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive and that Gateway has welcomed them with open arms.
