Gateway Sun

The Sun has learned that coffee and ice cream shop Beans ‘n Creams will be reducing its hours of operations. Beginning March 1, 2015 the new hours will be 3:00pm to 9:00pm, 7 days per week.

Several of the store’s part-time employees will be let go from their positions.

Beans ‘n Creams has made a serious attempt to gain traction in Gateway. Along with placing various signage pieces around town, using Val-Pak and other advertisements, the establishment has also tried adding a few lunch options with hot dogs and soups. They even offered to deliver.

It would seem there isn’t enough demand for their morning and lunch offerings at this time.

Located at 12220 Towne Lake Drive Until 20 (directly beside Boulevard Tavern), Beans ‘n Creams is at least the second attempt at an ice cream and coffee shop in that building in recent years. Oly’s Ice Cream and Coffee opened in May 2011 and closed in May 2013.

Beans ‘n Creams now faces competition from the newly opened JavaSpa for the coffee side of its business.

The owner of Beans ‘n Creams, Jane Davenport, shared some glowing compliments about her staff in an email to the Sun. Davenport was not ‘on the record’ about her shop in that email so we won’t be publishing her comments, however again she had some extremely nice things to say about her part-time staff.
