The Boston Red Sox aren’t the only people wearing red that Erik Howe wants to see crossing home plate at jetBlue Park on Valentine’s Day.

Howe is hosting the Stoplight 5K charity run at the baseball stadium beginning at 2:00pm today which he told the Sun is “the first fun run in SWFL to promote an active lifestyle and allow you to easily advertise your availability by wearing the color of the stoplight that associates with your relationship status.”

Wear green if you’re single, yellow if you’re “somewhere in the middle” and red if you’re in a committed relationship.

According to the event’s website, stoplight5k.com: It will be a flat course that leaves Jet Blue Park and heads east on Daniels, then 3 left turns to take runners through Gateway and then a right turn back out on Daniels and to the Eastern entrance of Jet Blue Park where you will enter the stadium in right field and end at home plate!

Howe and the Stoplight5K have been featured on WINK News and have lined up a number of local sponsors, including the Fort Myers Brewery in Gateway.

Local bands Samsara (2:00-4:00pm) and SowFLo (4:30-7:00pm) will be performing at jetBlue Park during the event, and there will be an after-party at House of Brewz at Gulf Coast Town Center this evening.

Cost to run in the Stoplight5K is $50, or if you just want to enjoy the party atmosphere at jetBlue Park it’s $20. Event organizers ask that runners arrive and register by 1:30pm.

A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit the American Heart Association.
